Focus: Maxime Marie’ design for “En Attendant Nordik” party

“J’ai découvert IVL Lighting il y a déjà 3 ans : j’ai pu utiliser 10 IVL Carrés lors du festival Nordik Impakt #19 à Caen en 2017, c’était une claque visuelle que toute la direction artistique salua.
Cette année, la 21ème édition du Festival Nordik Impakt n’a pas eu lieu faute de refonte du festival. En remplacement, le Cargö organise deux soirées “En Attendant Nordik”. L’accent est mis sur la vidéo en grande salle avec l’installation d’un tulle holographique qui couvre la quasi-totalité de l’ouverture de 12m, positionné entre les DJs et le public. Ne souhaitant pas compromettre le rendu visuel de la vidéo je n’ai pas souhaité intégrer de projecteur à l’arrière du tulle, j’ai préféré donc axer mon design lumière sur un dancefloor puissant et utiliser 18 Méga Pointes et 16 AuraXB pour baigner les spectateurs sous un tsunami lumineux, sachant que le dancefloor ne fait que 20m de largeur par 10m de profondeur auquel s’ajoute des gradins de 200 places.
Pour lier la scène et le dancefloor j’ai fait le choix d’intégrer 6 IVL Carrés juste devant le tulle et sur 3 paliers afin de les intégrer dans le champ de la vidéo. Au final nous avons positionné le tulle en fonction des IVL, avec une implantation de ce type je savais que je ne viendrai pas polluer la surface du tulle. Cette équation fut payante puisque la vidéo et la lumière se sont bien accommodées l’un à l’autre et le résultat a été très concluant.
Le pupitrage a été assuré par Adrien Hoareau, tout juste sorti de deux années d’apprentissage, un grand plaisir pour lui de débuter sa carrière avec ce type de matériel et pour moi de pouvoir lui offrir cette opportunité.
Le Club, quant à lui ne fut pas en reste, déjà bien équipé au niveau du grill, j’ai souhaité intégrer un fond de scène puissant, j’ai choisi de positionner 4 totems de 3m de haut avec 12 Pointes, 8 Par Led Rush2 et 4 IVL Carrés, l’ensemble réparti sur une ouverture de 6m. Le pupitrage a été assuré par Jean-Michel Spanier.
En résumé, 10 IVL répartis sur deux scènes, avec pour objectif de couvrir un maximum d’espace sans déborder sur l’arrière plan vidéo, l’IVL était pour moi la meilleure des alternatives et me permettait d’intégrer un élément architectural vivant.
Un bilan très positif sur ces deux jours, tant au niveau du Remote Training qu’ont suivi les deux techniciens juste avant leur encodage que du rendu visuel des IVL.

“I first discovered IVL Lighting 3 years ago: I used 10 IVL Carrés at the Nordik Impakt #19 festival in Caen in 2017 where the whole artistic direction applauded the impressive visual impact.
This year, the 21st edition of the Nordik Impakt Festival couldn’t take place. Instead, the Cargö organized two parties “En Attendant Nordik”. In the main room, the focus is on video with the installation of a holographic tulle that covers almost the entire 12-meter aperture, positioned between the DJs and the audience. To not compromise the visual rendering, I did not integrate any projector at the back of the tulle, and I preferred to focus my light design on the dancefloor and used 18 Mega Pointes and 16 AuraXB to bathe spectators under a tsunami of light, given that the dancefloor was only 20m wide by 10m deep plus 200-seat bleachers.
To create a link between the stage and the dancefloor I chose to put 6 IVL Carrés just in front of the tulle and on 3 levels to integrate them in the range of the video. This way we could immerse the audience in the light. In other words, we positioned the tulle according to the IVL, and with this kind of setup, I knew that I would not pollute the surface of the tulle. This configuration revealed to be efficient as both the video and the light suited each other well and the result was very appealing.
The Club was not left behind, with a ceiling already well equipped, I wanted to integrate a powerful background so I chose to put up 4 totems of 3m high with 12 Pointes, 8 Par Led Rush2 and 4 IVL Carrés, all equally set for a 6 meters opening.
In summary, 10 IVL for two stages, the objective was to cover a maximum of space without overflowing the video background, the IVL was for me the best solution and allowed me to integrate it as a living architectural element.
Very positive overview from these two days: the Remote Training sessions helped a lot our technicians to encode the shows and the visual rendering of IVL was perfect.
